supporting Families to feel
Confident & Connected
Did you know adolescence is similar to
Matrescence
As a mum this gives you incredible insights into the huge transition and transformation that your kids are going through
In both rites of passage
- We are stepping into a new role, a new identity
- Our body is changing in uncontrollable ways and
- Our brain is undergoing a radical transformation.
This not only changes how comfortable we are in our own skin it also changes:
- how we behave, feel and understand our self
- how others relate to us, expect us to look, act and feel,
- the pressure and expectations we feel
- our emotional repertoire and the fluctuations we experience
- our friendships, the relationships we have with our family – and the relationship we have with our self
It's a lot to navigate - whether you're an adult - or adolescent!
As tweens and teens navigate adolescence it’s natural for them to push back from us, our values – and play with their identity – but this means
Raising teens can be challenging
This is especially so in a culture that expects parents to
- find the perfect balance between strict and protective
- raise ‘successful’ independent teens while also being responsible for their choices and behaviours
- instinctively and intuitively know how to support our tweens and teens as they navigate the physical, emotional, and social changes and challenges that come with adolescence and
- do it all with a smile on our face
But it’s not quite that simple. Is it?
Our kids are in the midst of a major developmental period in which they are trying to forge and find their own identity, to work out what their future looks like – and to fit in; at home, at school, with peers and in society. It’s complex for them, and for us as parents.
Even if we have the answers and all the time and patience in the world – often our teens just don’t want to hear it from us.
Our teen sessions support the work you’re already doing
Our sessions focus on:
- Building self-esteem
- Navigating friendships
- Identity transitions during adolescence
- Peer and social pressures
- Careers and the pressure to become ‘someone/something’
- Body ownership and body image
Booking & Information
Who is this for?
These sessions are popular with tweens and teens aged 10 to 17 and their parents.
How does this work?
Whilst maintaining the confidentiality of your teen, at the end of each 40 minute session spent with your teen, we spend 20 minutes together in a parent consult. It’s this delicate blend of support for you and your teen where you can share your concerns and insights as a parent that make these sessions some of our most sought after.
Costs
Sessions are $140 per hour.
Or, you can book 3 sessions in advance for $390.
Where are session held?
We meet at the Motherhood and Matrescence office in Cannonvale.
Our office is unit 22/121 Shute Harbour Road, upstairs above Montessori.
There is a lift, easy parking and a bakery downstairs so you can grab a coffee while you wait.
Parent sessions can be held in person but they are often easiest over the phone.
